#A3000 / 16Mhz — Junk?!?

Yes, GVP's memory could make a difference, if the baord is designed to take advantage of it (GVP's board, that is, the bus already will). And again yes, the bus in the a3000/16 is just as fast as the one in the a3000/25 The bus in the a3000 doesn't run at any particular "speed", unlike the 2000 and previous. It runs about as fast as the cards that are plugged into it can, which (usually) means as fast as the processor that is accessing the memory. You go to a 25 mhz 040, and that's how fast the bus will go. You *may*, and mind you I don't know either way, have to change the memory chips on the motherboard if CBM was megacheap and went for slower ones, but somehow I doubt it. Best to check with CBM on that one. Still, there is nothing about the 3000/16 that makes it permanantly locked to 16mzh. er mhz. :^) Ben
