as an addendum and FYI, here's how my purchase decisions were made with
regard to Amiga word processing…
Scribble!, back when I got my A1000 ('85?), because it was there <g>…
then Pagesetter when it became available, for DTP work… then Laser script
to make PageSetter worth having (I _HAD_ to have postscript output… and
you know, I still miss some of the capabilities of Laser script, like
multiple postscript pages scaled and output to a single page… that was
one slick postscript layout tool for non-postscript type people like
myself!)
Then, MSS sent a $99 offer to scribble! users for excellence!… which took
forEVER and a day to arrive (That delay cost MSS many customers).
By this time, I was seeing some very impressive ads from New Horizons for
ProWrite, and the descriptions of graphics capabilities made me think
hard… but there was no built in postscript support.
And while excellence! was slow (both in getting to me, and in its typing!),
it had some wonderful features… and then, lo and behold, MSS sent an
upgrade to excellence! (at no charge, and without notice) that made it a
very productive tool for me.
So, I guess the marketing lesson is that, I at least, tend to stick with I
know how to use (the familiar), and seek out those things I 'think' I need.
