I doubt that either did well this Christmas… the worsening recession, the
still-high prices on the players, and the lack of time to clue buyers in on
the possibilities, kinda killed the idea of a boom season for anything new.
Mainly, I'd say the prices were still too high. I've also run into a lot
of people who'd like to see a combo player with LD capability.
Looking forward, a guess would be that Commodore will continue introduction
of CDTV to one area at a time, with a corresponding burst of local ads.
Philips will probably be counting on rentals from Blockbuster Video to
introduce most people to CD-I players.
