Thanks For uploading StarDrive/AMAX HD driver software. I downloaded it about a week a go and have been experimenting with it. So far, unfortunately, I haven't had much luck with it. I backed up and repartitioned my hard drive, extracted the files using LZ, renamed the file STARDR.AMH to StarDrive.amhd and copied it to the DEVS directory. I have created a mountlist item called AMAX1: and have tried both FFS and Old File System. The mountlist entry (based on the v1.31 addendum FFS mountlist entry) is the same as my other partitions (except for cyl #) and can be recognized by AmigaDOS. Behavior is as follows: Using AMAX version 2.0, upon startup AMAX recognizes a disk is present but since it is not yet formatted, puts an X through it and request a system disk. After booting from the system floppy, it puts up a requester asing if it should format the hard drive. After answering in the affirmative and naming the drive, it looks like it is going to format the drive, but there is no HD activity and the HD icon promptly disappears. AMAX then behaves as it always has with no HD. Using AMAX version 2.51, immediately upon running the program, the statement "Hard disk driver file is bad" comes on the screen. After clicking OK, setup menus are available. In the SCSI menu, AMAX1 is listed as available. Booting procedure goes the same as version 2.0 above, with the exception that the HD icon is a different shape in this version. It is equally short-lived, and the behavior is the same. I am using StarDrive v1.31 on my A1000. Is there anything special that I should be using in the mountlist? Is there a more recent StarDrive driver? Did you get this to work? Could AMAX be corrupting the StarDrive.device file in memory? Any suggestions would be appreciated. -Frank – via Whap!
