AU: Have you checked the various prices ofscsi boards vs IDE lately? AU: Almost identical! Its hard to believe thatgoing with scsi over IDE AU: would have significantly increased the price ofthe 1200, especially AU: considering that Commodore already had developed ascsi interface for AU: the amiga. Have you taken a good look at the "IDE interface" found in the A600 & A1200? All CBM did was solder on a 44-pin IDE connector, and run some lines from it to the chips already on the motherboard. There are no "IDE custom chips". CBM did have to add a IDE.driver, and tweak the chips a little, but they were making those same tweaks to support the PCMCIA slot anyway. Adding IDE to the A600/1200 was almost a 0% chip solution. Ron. – ap'ing with AP. (Eagles may fly, but weasles aren't sucked into jet engines.)
