#4000 in Byte
Has anyone read the blurp in this months Byte on the Amiga 4000? It seems
kind of condescending to me…he (Tom Yager) states the 256 color modes
are "slow"! Actualy what he says is " And even though display performance
for the 256-color modes `continues' to be slow" Am I missing something
here, when and where did Amigas have a 256 color mode before the 4000? He
also implies the 3000T-040/200 and the 4000-040/120 are basiclly the same
machine with the 3000T having a few more slots. He also refers to ADOS
2.1 and Workbench 3.0 as the operating system for both machines. Does the
3000T-040 require new boot roms? No where is anything said about the new
HAM-8 modes or anything other than the 256 color, nothing about overscan
or screen resolutions. He goes to great lengths to deride C='s policy of
not allowing users to open the case without voiding the warranty.
Generaly it is an upbeat article but full of false and misleading
enuendos.
I guess I am somwhat happy that they mentioned it at all.
