Ok, I'll admit it. I'm a raw beginner. However, I do like video very much, and would like to do some training tapes for our company that are a grade better than what I can do with "point and shoot" camcordering. I KNOW you guys have covered this somewhere sometime (you weren't born knowing all this stuff, were you?) I have been a Mac user since the 128K days, and know a lot about it. However, when you start talking about external sync, TBC, etc, althought I have a fuzzy notion about what it's about, I don't know much. Finally, here's my question… If you had a strong interest, but only consumer grade stuff, what would you do (assuming I can talk my company into springing for a toaster and needed support equipment?) I have (don't laugh!) a 4-head VCR with a Panasonic (pre-CCD) camera, a Nikon VN-750 Hi-8 camcorder, and two two-head VCRs. I know that I may have to junk everything (including the Nikon), but don't know what I *do* need. For example, the Nikon is ok for our use resolution-wise (this is in-house tech training), but don't I need Time Base Correction? In addition to the toaster, don't I need an editing machine? If you don't feel like going into all the gory details, please point me to something that's better than "this is a camcorder", but more detailed than what you all need. Is there an old thread somewhere that does this? I have been reading some mags recently, but they all tend to be either *too* simplistic or assume a knowledge I don't have.
