Rich, Your disappointment in the press when it comes to reporting on matters on which you have personal or professional knowledge is widely shared. Its the nature of the beast that reporters who cover a multitude of stories and who were trained as journalists are not going to have the overview or appreciation of nuances as someone involved intimately in the matter. I read the story in question, and did not consider it unfair. It was perfectly proper that the story concentrate on on the projected sales and the fact that consumers were not sure why they should buy the product. To expound on the "far-reaching implications" of the technology would have made the reporter an advocate and been improper in the context. For the type of informed coverage you seem to be looking for, have you seen the quarterly review of computer technology in the Journal or the weekly computer column by Walter Mossberg in section B. He reviews the products and technology from the perspective of an informed end-user without an ax to grind. I really think your ire here should be directed at Kodak. They are doing a lousy job of getting the product and the story out. I have a CD-ROM drive, a laser disc player, and a CD-I player aand I am having a hard time remembering where exactly Photo- CD is going to fit for me or where I go to get involved and whether I need a new machine or the old ones will due. Regards Tim
