Dave, I've posed this question before, but you seem to have answers… So, if I am selling a PC clone (barebones style, say) that is 'B' certified, and a customer wants memory and a particular VGA card installed in it…it would (in theory) need to be recertified? If that were the case, nothing would be certified! I mean, what if they wanted a new hard drive? You would need to certify hundreds of variations…which no one (including such mainstream vendors as MicoAge, Businessland) are doing. Compaq sells several of their models with no hard drive…does the vendor need to recertify if they are adding a hard drive for the customer? Does Compaq need to certify for every single hard drive?
