It is not good politics to insult someone you want to do something for you
or see things your way, so to me it does make sense to be gentle when
pointing out that someone at Byte didn't do his homework when writing his
article on the new Amigas. Sure, he was lazy in getting the facts right
and all that, but it is easy to turn defensiveness about doing what he may
already know was an unproffessional rushed job into outright dislike for
the Amiga or the Amiga users. It must be extremely easy to cover your
mistakes by adopting a "stupid game machine won't survive the year anyway"
type attitude when you work for a rabidly pro-MsDos magazine like Byte.
How many Amiga users subscribe to Byte? Would it be wrong to assume that
any article on any other platform is designed to reassure the MSDOS reader
that he made the right decision by buying from their advertisers and that
all those nasty rumors of game machines stealing their thunder are false?
Looked at another way: when did a pro-amiga magazine last do an unbiased
review of the latest MsDos or Apple platform? I don't remember even one.
