Jan: I think it is healthy when two gentlemen simply agree to disagree, and this is probably one of those cases. I certainly agree with your overall goals. But having spent some years in both the advertising and publishing businesses, I think there are some important issues you are overlooking. And the OED is an organization and product of which I happen to have some inside knowledge. I don't think flooding Oxford's offices with mail will have the result you expect, but it's certainly worth a shot. BTW, I just got my Jan issue of Americn Demographics, with an article about how newspapers are finding new ways to exploit their assets. Terrific quote: "A newspaper is a database trapped in paper and ink. Now publishers are finding new ways to set their information free." Free the enslaved bits! Unchain the down-trodden databases!
