Hi, John– Welcome to the forum! We have been talking of gathering a database of freeware pictures of minerals here. No one has identified a source of such as yet, though if we make this place interesting enough to draw in more active people with the right equipment (or find more time ourselves), we may be able to create such a thing ourselves. As I mentioned here not long ago, the amateur astronomers can buy a CD for $100 with immense databases on positions and characteristics of stars and asteroids, and a number of picture/maps of planets and moons. There do not seem to be enough computer-oriented rockhounds yet to draw someone into creating/selling such a thing, but it is hopefully just a matter of time. –Doug Read action !reply Enter reply.
