Yeah, I'm hip to Tuolomne Meadows. Gorgeous! Last time I was there I was too small to do serious climbing tho'. I *do* recall my dad's car getting vapor lock so we had to pull over for a while. I wandered off into the woods (GOOD boy!) jumped up onto a big log and saw the *largest* alligator lizard I ever saw before or since! Seriously, it was a good 4 feet long! Had a head shaped like an arrowhead, had to be at least 4 1/2 – 5 inches long. I held still and it crept back out from under the log s-l-o-w-l-y, so I was able to scope it out pretty well. Then my mom called me and I fled the mini-Cretaceous period back to the car (bummer). Your rock/hail story is a good one, too. When you come through something like that relatively unscathed it's much more fun to look back on, but feels good to have had the adventure. DT
