I have re-read my earlier message. I can see where my point wasn't well made.
What I was trying to save a fellow Amigan the hassle of logging in without
having garbage at the login prompts. I have many term programs, but I have
settled on two for CIS use. (at least in the Amiga world) Terminus because it
flips from 7e1 to 8n1. I tried to make a separate statement, not successfully,
that I also use Autopilot. I had assumed that AutoPilot used the HMI protocol
which would require 8n1. (since HMI is a file transfer) When using an ascii
interface it is best to be at 7e1, unless your software can strip the high bit.
Remember, I am looking at CompuServe from a broader perspective than the
average joe. I know there are a lot of other places to go than CIS at the host
name. For example type NETWRK at the host name prompt. I would be betraying
my principles if I let someone log in at 8n1 and let the host force them to
7e1.
Eric.
