Pavel,
Have not heard this solution yet, but I just got through experimenting with it
and am quite happy with the results as long as you have decided you don't need
broadcast quality. Sony makes a camera that has adjustable refresh rates to
sync with your screen. You can either connect it directly with a Targa board
or a NTSC board or adjust it manually with no connection to your computer. It
works to .4 Hz steps on the refresh rate.
With a flat screen monitor, the color reproduction is amazing with no loss
(IMHO). Oh, the flat screen eliminates any loss of quality at the edges and
the input frame can be adjusted horizontally and vertically to match the screen
with no over/undershoot. You can then render in whatever segments you have
enough memory for (for smooth motion) and then edit the video tapes. I believe
the medium is Beta.
Not my first choice for excellent quality, but it's darned good enough for most
things less than that.
