My wrapping looked like it had been opened too. I got mine late in December.
I suspect what Don said is true, Commodore did a minor rework. My 2000 has
been working perfectly since I got it. I have the newer keyboard, yet I
don't have the "lost keystroke problem" others have had. I think this means
that my motherboard is the latest and includes the removal of the 2
capacitors that caused the "lost keystroke" problem with the newer keyboard.
