#Geology Art?
I've heard about a site in Sun Prairie, on the north-east outskirts of Madison,
but I haven't visited it yet. And I've heard there might be places in the
driftless area to the west of Madison. The only site I visited in the Madison
area was a gravel quarry just outside Brooklyn, WI about 15 minutes south of
Madison. It's certainly not a place for six-year-olds, the minor squish I
incurred at my last visit meant about six months before that fingernail looked
normal again. 🙁 I do plan to visit the Sun Prairie quarry that I learned of
from the field trip director of the Milwaukee geological society.
Chances are, your nephew has already visited the UW-Madison's Geology Museum.
If he visits on an off-day when the place isn't jammed with gradeschool kids,
with a smile and a friendly adult, it's easy to get behind the scenes to touch
the bones they're working on in the labs. And there's the library in that
building, too, an easy way to spend an afternoon. Just a month or so ago, I
took a day off to do just that!
