I don't have a problem with IDE in itself, but I prefer EISA based SCSI because of the speed difference. The SCSI controllers are more expensive, but when you've got to wait on IDE HD's all the time then I consider it a wise investment. My Adaptec is usually 30-50% faster than my VLB IDE drive, and even more under some circumstances. I didn't time this out with a stopwatch (don't have one), it's just an observation.
