I worked as a geologist for Asarco for all of '74, Cities Service Minerals in summer of '75, then switched to geophysics and worked as a geophysician doing non-seismic geophysics for minerals, oil, geothermal, precious metals, diamonds, and groundwater. I was with Zonge Engineering until about '84, with St. Joe American until they were bought by Alan Bond (who I think is now in gaol in Australia) in '87, and have worked by myself since then. I've gradually become a generic computer consultant as my geophysics business gave way to business computing. This year ('93) I had only one short job I could call geo-related, and that was training someone on magnetometers. Got a couple of geo clients, but I do computing for them, not geophysics. My wife is a hydrogeologist, also formerly a minerals geologist with experience throughout the west and for several companies, mostly oil-company minerals divisions which as we know are mostly gone forever <g>.
