Actualy there are 2 (two) safe zones! 90% is refered to as safe Action (out side this is often cut off on most TV sets , but due to some what spherical face plate it is not exactly a box with staight line on every s. second is ~ 80% and known as Safe Title Zone – so if you have words you absolutely positivly want to see – stay inside this! I made my self a GIF file and a CEL that have markes made by using NTSC monitors and a bit of trial & error – but they are NOT to SMPTE standards ( and only for 640×480) I also used a pencile to make marks on computer monitor bezel at both action & title zones – then lay staight edge across if in question. What happens to stuff thats outside zone – it hides behind tv sets bezel some "Pro" monitors underscan so you can see it, or you can climb inside your set and twiddle some knobs (not recomended) hope this helps some dave wright – wyeknot, inc
