#Printing disk files
December 29, 1993
I am a new user to 3D Studio R3 and I am in need of advice concerning output of
my renderings to
a printer. I create my renderings on my home computer and generate output files
to disk and take
them in to the office. At work I have a H-P Paintjet XL300 and Designjet 650C
available to me.
They are connected to a Novell network via an Intel Netport. Neither plotter is
equipped with H-P's
postscript options. My 3D Studio is configured for the Paintjet XL300.
No matter what type of file (i.e. GIF, TGA, TIF, etc.) I generate, the Paintjet
either outputs page
after page of text, or has the busy light glow solid and no output, or just no
activity period.
I have used Novell's CAPTURE command to redirect the LPT1 & LPT2 ports
respectively for the
Paintjet and the Designjet. I have tried the DOS PRINT command and DOS COPY to
the LPT port
command; I have yet to try Novell's NPRINT command. The redirection of the
ports with the
CAPTURE command works perfectly with our AutoCAD R12 operation for plotting.
Also, can renderings be sent to the Designjet 650C? Any help that you can
provide will be most
appreciated.
Thanks,
MATTHEW J. NICHOLAS
