What I meant was, the data that's out there today was created and freely distributed before any privatization. So anything based on today's data can be sold, too – it just doesn't make much sense to reprint exactly what the USGS hands out, because you can't compete on price. But look at contemporary examples of value-added USGS data, like the De Lorme maps. From what I've seen, there is little value in a lot of what the USGS hands out in electronic form, because the data is just *too raw*. It's not as if De Lorme is too busy to take your order! And I'd say their value-per-dollar is better than USGS, don't you?
