Pawel, I was hoping you knew more about the DEC systems! <G>. I just had a conversation with Ken Baer, the Hash PowerMac Programmer. He said that comparing the DOS render24 to the Mac isn't necessarily apples to apples. The Mac and Windows rendering app gives up a fairly large number of computing cycles to allow for apps in the background, or to allow the rendering to happen in the background. The DOS version doesn't do this. He is seriously considering adding an option on the PowerMac version to "Quit the Finder" (the equivalent of the program manager), giving ALL CPU cycles to the rendering app, increasing performance about "100%". I'll compare the Windows render time and let you know. So, until he adds the ability to have the rendering app dominate the machine, the PCs are a better value, for rendering. 🙁 (Man it kills me to say that!). BUT, IMHO, I still would rather model and animate on the Mac, I just like the Mac environment better! File management, fluid interchange of graphics from program to program, etc.. On the networking, does Lantastic connect to Macs? Thanks, Jim Jonah
