3D Studio R3
I installed an ATI Graphics Pro Turbo 4mb card in my computer this weekend and
now my
3-D Studio Release 3 does not function. I have configured 3-D studio for the
new card.
The error message upon startup is as follows:
——————————————————————
INITIALIZATION ERROR
Error 1000: Unknown VDM mode number
This product does not include the graphics draw code library for
the selected video card. Your configuration file is possibly
from another version of the product. Reconfigure the software
and select a valid video card selection. In general, this error
should not occur. Therefore, if reconfiguration does not solve
the problem, contact your distributor.
Note: You may need a VGxxxxxx.VDC file to use this mode
and VDCPATH set to point to the directory containing
this file.
——————————————————————
I have checked my PC for any files with the .VDC extension, and no luck.
I also checked my ATI disks, and no .VDC files. I also did a search on
Compuserve without positive results.
Below is the lines from my 3DS.SET file pertaining to the video card.

I am using a Tri-Star 486-50 EISA, 20mb of RAM, and a SCSI disk controller
card.
I was looking forward to seeing the results of upgrading my video card from
a 1mb NDI AT-600+ to the ATI. Frustration is an understatement. Any ideas
to get my 3-D Studio back on line would be most appreciated. I probably will
upgrade to Release 4, but not until after the first of the year.
Thanks,
Matt
