I have a 28.8 running on one node, and a 14.4 on the other, with no problems.
I have not seen a need to have the port running higer than 38400 either.
There are many BBS programs available. I personally use Xenolink. It is very
fast and effecient with ram. It lacks GUI's at this time, but this will change
soon. Once you set the config. files you really don't need them anyways.
Xeno comes with it's own FIDO mailer called MP. The only thing it really lacks
is built in QWK packet support.
It takes a bit to get a FIDO feed set up. Most FIDO boards will give you free
access but I pay a Planet Connect equipped board for my feeds. He gives me
access to everything for $2.00 a week. The best part is no long distance calls
this way…
I could tell you more about different BBS packages available but I dont feel
like getting into a BBS software debate.. If you need help for set-up of your
board (Fido nodelist, etc.,) send me C-mail.
