As each "new" thing happens, that only throws more confusion into the
situation. Additionally, as time passes by the value of the assets decrease.
At some time, if not already, things will have gone too far to make a relaunch
of the Amiga practicable.
Personally, I see the layoffs of the engineers as a smokescreen to hide
behind. Engineers aren't ball players. They weren't buying them, and if the
deal "was about to be completed", I'm sure that the engineers who would have
liked to continue with the Amiga, could have been persuaded to sign up with the
new company.
After all, they would likely have to take a couple of weeks to find a new job
anyway. Or, if _EITHER_ bidder were well financed, the amount of money
necessary to put the remaining few engineers on retainer till the deal was
done, is peanuts compared to the money that will be spent to relaunch the
machine.
In other words, if they can't afford to carry the engineers for a couple of
weeks, they can't afford to relaunch the machine, or they are on such a tight
budget that we are looking at another C= shoestring type operation.
My hopes for a new Amiga, which weren't incredibly high, have sunk even lower.
