I too have a desk jet and found that if you need a really quick fix
for the jaggies in the fonts, try making the page about twice as large as
what you need (use 11 x 17 for an 8 1/2 x 11 page) and then use the Pixel
option instead of Scale to Size in the Printer specifications. Set the
Pixels to 4.0 (4 to 1, this will reduce the size of your page by about 50%)
and you'll get a rather decent looking page on an 8 1/2 by 11 sheet.
I spoke to Gold Disk yesterday and they mentioned that later this
year there is a plan for an upgrade which "addresses the dot matrix
printers." I put in a lot of kudos for the Desk Jet. We'll see what
happens.
