'Scuse me for jumping in here, but let me see if I can muddy the waters a bit. <g> It might help to explain the reasoning behind the problem, and why Jonas suggested the batch file. On some systems, 3DS can't see the CDROM drive as a map path if you haven't already accessed that path, from DOS, _before_ starting 3DS. To test and see if this is the case, leave your 3ds.set MAP-PATH parameter set to your CDROM drive J:\, as you originally had it. Now, reboot your computer so everything is starting from the beginning. Next, from DOS, type: dir j: You should see the files in your CDROM. (If not, you've got a problem with your CDROM. If yes, proceed…) (Oh, by the way, delete that 3ds.bat file in your 3ds4 directory. Since it's got the same prefix as the 3ds executable, it's only confusing things.) Assuming you've deleted the 3ds.bat file and displayed your J directory, go into your 3ds4 directory and start up 3DS. If your CDROM map path now works, you can proceed to the next step. If it doesn't, I'm lost and someone else is going to have to step in. If 3DS now works, you can create a batch file just like Jonas mentioned, but I'd place it in some other directory than your 3ds4 directory. I usually keep all my .bat files in a directory called BATS on drive C:, and then include it in the PATH list in my Autoexec.bat file. I also usually give it a slightly different name than the 3ds.exe file. (Typically, 3d.bat). Now, to run 3DS, just type 3D from anywhere. Hope this helps. – Jack
