Hi John,
I am a practising Dentist (Endodontist) in Canada and am contemplating
purchasing some Endoscopic/Intra oral digital camera equipment. I have some
interest in using the captured images to create "virtual patients" for teaching
diagnostic procedures to my students. Ultimately, I would like to create a
CD-ROM
based library of cases whihc could be used to interact with clinicains using
both sound and visual media.
My question is: I have the option of going with a MAC or PC based system. Both
will end up about $40 K US. Is there any advantage to using either in the DTV
area? I have read several books including Ron Wodaski's most recent
paperweights, and I subscribe to DTV mag etc. I'm more confused than ever. I'm
not interested in programming, rather I am interested in being subject matter
expert, capturing the stills/video and then guiding programmers to write the
simulator. I can foresee a time in the future when all patients information (
including digital images) will be in a standardized form, and I'd like to be
one
of the first to use this in a multimedia/teaching application.
Sorry for being so long winded !
Thanks for your help.
Rob
