Let's kick this section off. I am putting in my first digital video system this month. My client is a traditional video production house that is making an investment in where they see the future going. I'd like to compile a list of potential markets for a company who is transitioning to digital video from traditional video. Here are some ideas we've come up with so far, why not add to the list: * CD ROM Publishing – Editing together movie clips and segments for parts of a CD-ROM environment. Many CD-ROM publishers may not have materials for filming needed segments, or experience in editing together a good-looking presentation. * Digital Service Bureau – Digitizing video and film clips to disk for clients who have the computer equipment, but have not made the bid investment in a variety of tape decks and video equipment. * Online system for final editing with client's EDL – Clients can edit together a variety of tapes into a final presentation at low-res on their systems and generate a EDL (Edit Decision List) for the final edits. These can then be converted to a high-end system for final tape-to-tape editing. This lets clients with less expensive computer systems still take some advantage of digital video editing. Any other ideas? I'll compile them together into some type of report. -Craig Swanson Swanson Tech Support
