#R5 Wish
I've got a wish for R5. I work in an old office (built in '46 or '48, I think,
that is **SERIOUSLY** "under-amped".
We've got at least 5 computers, a couple of laser printers, a little
refrigerator and a microwave all on one circuit and there isn't room for any
more circuits in the box. On top of that there is a building rehab scheduled in
a couple of years so nobody wants to expend a lot of effort in rewiring now.
We've had times (usually at lunchtime when somebody uses the microwave<g>)
where the circuit breaker trips, dumping me out of 3DS – typically with unsaved
changes in the 3D editor.
I bought a UPS to handle my animation system, but it would be nice if I could
set up 3DS to react to the powerfail signal from the UPS and do an automatic
"Save Project". I have enough time on the UPS that I can go out into the hall
and reset breaker 27 before the batteries run out, but only if I'm right there
when it happens and I haven't wandered away.
This might also be useful (but not as critical) for shutting down net
rendering cleanly on power fail, too.
