Well, I thought the first question was about grade school. As far as secondary and college education, yes, you can be a success without 3 years of math and science. On the other hand, the mental discipline one gets from studying science in depth will serve one well in whatever field one chooses. (Just as studying philosophy and literature does – although the job market for philosophers is probably worse than that for scientists)
