I disagree to some extent. You don't need 3+yrs of calculus, physics, or chemistry to balance a check book and get by in life. There are a lot more people getting by in this life without this type of science background then with. Otherwise the sciences would not be that hard. The people who persue the sciences have a natural curiousity about how the world works. And if you look at a lot of, or even most of the financial success'(which seems to be mostly everybodies goal) in this world, you can see that it wasn't correlated to science classes taught in school. >>For those computer jobs, for example, one will do much better if one understands at least basic math and how electrons move.<< I agree.
