Kamron, You're still not getting it. There is more to seimology than S and P waves. At any abrubt density or phase change you'll get a discontinuity and the generation of second-order waves. This is one method gas and oil people use to map underwater sedimentary structures in their quest for oil and gas. If you really want to understand this you'll just have to read on the references from my last post. I just don't get what you're trying to say about the ice and barges. And yes, melting crust does leak back up from subduction. That is where granite comes from. You need to read a intro-geology text. Bore threw the continent? I have no idea what you're talking about here either. Yes, the transform faults are indeed parallel with the motion of the plates. You're still thinking of a 2D map. Once again, a good geology text should illustrate why these transform faults exist. You can explain all metamorphism and structurally geology with a *single* catastropic event??? I'm beginning to see….. I think your problem is that you think the earth is flat…like the map you're looking at. Flat maps contain distortions. If you could visualize the motions of the plates over the spherical surface of the earth your problems with tectonics would go away. However, I don't think you really want to believe anything except what you see as the truth. I have given you all the info I'm going to. It's clear you're just not willing to do the research necessary to debate this topic effectivly. All you need to do is read some of the books I've referenced in my last post. Mike
