Right now I'd go with the TR-700. There are some differences in the implementation of the LANC (Control-L) protocol between Canon and Sony. Sony invented it and their cameras usually support all available commands. Canon doesn't alway do that. The TR-700 is a great unit overall. It is my current recommendation in small camcorders. I just wish Sony would make an NTSC version of the CCD-V6000, which is currently only available in PAL (Europe). It is a CCD-V5000 with bigger zoom and a few other enhancements. Since it sits on your shoulder it is much more stable. But, that's just wishing for now. James Bell Jr. — Multimedia Contributor – CompuServe
