Instead of defining your flares by setting a myriad of toggles, confusing
buttons and options, you create your flare using 5 simple color gradients.
These gradients are not only very intuitive, but getting the exact color and
look you want is very easy. Move or change a color on the gradient and you
instantly see its effect in the truecolor preview window. The gradients can
also be animated over time, and incorporate the lights actual color for the
current frame in the gradient! Using this philosophy, I have been able to
emulate several popular lens flares already, including the photoshop flares,
LightWave flares and even Alias flares so that they look even better than the
originals. I don't think anyone will run out of possibilities any time soon.
Secondary flares are created in a similar manner, and can be a circle, octagon,
hexagon or "user-squashable" ellipse. They can be placed anywhere along the
flare's spread. They can even rotate to always face the flare as it moves
through the scene so you can have a bright and dark area of a secondary flare
where the bright area will always be aligned with the flare.
