Ive just done the experiment with a dirty mirror and the computer screen. What
I saw when I focused on the screen was the mirror out of
focus. In additionI saw the dirt on the mirror "double". When I focus on the
mirror I get a double, out of focus computer screen.
As a student of visual perception ( I teach color theory, drawing and design
courses ) Im interested in why an image ( painting or photo for example ) of
the the way things actually look, in this case out of focus and doubled, would
seem so unrealistic. The class example I use is to ask students to focus on
their hand in front of their face and then, without losing focus on the hand
examine the background. It dosnt look real but it is real life.
On the subject of Lens FX I look foward to it. I really like the way XAOS
uploaded a disabled version of Penello. I hope the idea catches on.
