I've just returned from the VTU expo and perhaps I can ease some of your fears. They had many flyers up and running and they were performing flawlessly. It wasn't just a sit back and watch situation, you could go up to the Flyer and use it yourself and it took about ten seconds to learn. The keynote speech by Tim Jenison said that the .9 version is being released now and the full 4.o will be released in a few weeks. Everyone, whether or not they own a Flyer, will all receive the same software for the upgrade to 4.0. The only thing you can't do without the Flyer is full motion video. You can actually set up a series of Framestores in a series or a credit sequence just within Toaster 4.0. It really is great. The most interesting thing that was said by Tim Jenison, and I'm sure you'll start hearing about it soon, is that the Flyer is a totally self contained unit and it only recieves power from it's host computer. In other words, although he stopped short of the official announcement, there will be PC, Mac and SGI Flyers down the road. It was a great show and it's attendance was encouraging for the continued long life of the Toaster.
