Well, I finally got my copy of LAttice C. For the interest of the rest of the folks here (at least those not too tied up with the Political Science subsection), Lattice lets you compile & link a "Hello World" program in 2 minutes 17 secs. The same program, using BDS C on a 2.5MHz Kaypro, will compile & link in 21 secs. This is progress? Let's hear it for Turbo Amiga C. In all fairness to Lattice, I must admit that the compiler is _MUCH_ faster than the linker, which is Metacompo's. The linker accounts for nearly two minutes of that 2:17. The BDS C linker takes about 8 seconds, and it doesn't require a two-line list of library files. Then, on the other hand, while I'm typing this (on the Kaypro), I'm sitting here watching the Amiga draw out the Mandelbrot set. I guess it's good for _SOMETHING_ … the Kaypro surely won't do that!
