Ok, I talked to David Mathews at Micro Forge. They are currently selling the following: a one slot expansion box; a hard disk controller (SCSI I believe) which goes in the slot; 10 and 20MB hard disks. Prices are as follows: 10MB full package, $1739.80. 20MB full package, $1855.80. 10MB second drive, $928.95. 20MB 2nd drive, $1044.95. The full package includes 1 slot expansion box, controller card, drive, power supply, and case that holds two drives. The controller card can handle 4 drives. They are waiting for shipment of 40MB drives from NEC. As soon as they are received, prices will be $2164.80 for the full system and $1352.95 for the 2nd drive. They are working on the following products for future release: a 6 slot expansion box (about $600); a 2MB board for the box (about $1000); a stereo sound digitizer for the box (about $400). Developers (as defined by sending a copy of either the acceptance letter from Commodore/Amiga or of an ad for an Amiga product currently on the market (I would guess that an actual copy of a product would also do)) get an across the board 30% discount. Speed: I took this with a grain of salt, but David said that their tests showed the RAM: disk to be 40% faster than the floppy. Their hard disk was 39% faster than floppy. He blamed AmigaDOS (of course). We shall see. I myself would go for the storage even if it isn't all too fast… Final note: unlike Bob Perez, I have heard of Micro Forge.
