2000 slower?
We were just debating this issue the other day: another user had a 2000
with a Magni genlock board and an hard drive, and suspected that the Magni
board was the culprit.
So far as basic issues like clock speed are concerned, the 1000 and 2000
are identical. No, there is nothing inherent in the 2000 that would make
it run slower; and it is highly doubtful that someone could have replaced
components and thus caused a slower clock speed.
The jury is still out on the other machine I just mentioned, but I have
heard that certain hard drive controllers steal clock cycles from the CPU
and thus result in an overall slowdown.
You might try temporarily pulling your hard disk controller card and seeing
if this results in an improvement in system speed, then at least you'll
know the cause for sure.
