386(SX?)Bridgeboard?
Now that the A2286 bridgeboard suggested retail is being cut a whopping 50%
to a suggested retail of $799, I can't help but wonder if a 386 (SX?)
bridgeboard may be forthcoming very soon.
I'm normally not the type to even start this type of speculation with
regard to Commodore marketing, but a *50%* price cut is not what we've come
to expect from Commodore.. on *anything*. Historically, price cuts offered
by Commodore are usually a prelude to one of two things: a product being
dropped from their line, or an improved product with a retail equal to or
greater than it's predecessor.
Considering the design ideology of the Amiga, and that PC compatibility has
continued to be an aspect of the 3000, I suspect the latter possibility may
be quite real. We've all heard that Commodore was working on a 386 BB…
could it be that it is just around the corner?
