Thought you might like the perspective of another Mac, sometimes IBM user who now also owns an Amiga. Besides I don't have enough enemies (sure to change after this). First, I'm happy with my Amiga, which I bought to do video post production. I initially bought a 2000HD. Thats a 68000 machine with lots of slots and a hard disk. Within two days I was impatient with performance compared to my Mac II so I added a 68030 accelerator for another $2K which gave me very satisfactory improvements. Later I added a VIdeo Toaster which you can read lots more about in any Amiga or Video magazine – its a video switcher, special effects generator, 24 bit paint, 3D modeller/renderer for $1.5K. For video( or multimedia), nothing available for the Mac or the PC comes close. I figured I could easily spend $10K on Mac add-ons for stuff that wasn't half as productive. For other work than video, I cant imagine using an Amiga if you already have a Mac. The GUI (Graphical User Interface) is very crude, even when compared to Windows, much less the Mac. I have the impression that "rreal men" don't use the GUI, prefering CL/I (Command Line Interface). If you like PC:DOS you'll love CL/I. There is plenty of application software available, and much of it is very cheap but all that I've seen is "iconoclastic" – strange and unusual compared to the stuff the whole rest of the world uses. Some of the reservations I have appear to be ameliorated by the newest Amiga, the 3000, which has a better GUI and better screen resolution. Still, however, I would prefer a similarly priced II si unless I was doing video work. Bill
