Judd, Just a guess, but I'd say that the Nec 3D has become slightly "impure"; that is, the beams are not hitting the shadow mask precisely in the darker area. If the monitor is sitting next to something with a magnetic field, separate them. I'm not familiar with the 3d's degaussing circuit; try cycling the power once every 10 minutes for awhile if it doesn't have a manual degauss button. Rotating the display will also "give away" slight purity shifts. A standard TV degaussing ring is very handy in this case, but few people have them. Karl
