Comment on the Mac vs. Amiga battle: Reading last MacWorld, I noticed two mini-reviews for 3D Rendering programs for the Mac. One called 'Ray Dream Designer' has some pretty neat 3D object placement tools, allows some textures and image wraps, will do transparency & refraction, will not anti-alias, NO animation; the other called 'UpFront 3-D' has a single window, allows freehand sketching, no splines, only one light source, NO animation, only simple flat-shading (must export to other programs to render better). You can run down and purchase either for only $895. Now, both appear to have features that are missing from Amiga 3D software, but they also appear to lack a phenomenal amount of features that any basic Amiga rendering software should have. Can you imagine Impulse releasing a new non-ray-tracing, non-animating, no-brush or image wrap, one light program for the Amiga? For $895? (I don't want to rag too hard on the Mac, cause I know that there is a lot of GOOD rendering software out there, but if these two represent 'ray tracing for laypeople', (per MacWorld), and they cost $895, boy am I glad I have an Amiga) –jp–seattle–
