Encyclopedias
Recently we attached a CD-ROM drive to the network server in my office.
The reason for getting it was to be able to access certain disks related to
our work; however, I'm finding the CD-ROM is somewhat underutilized.
After asking around among users, they say that if they had their choice we
would keep a disk in the drive with a first-rate encyclopedia. A second
choice would be an encyclopedia of general terms in science and technology
geared toward a layperson user. Ideally we would also have TSR software
that allows the users to pop up out of, say, a document and access the
encyclopedia. Finally, we are interested only in an ASCII text-based
reference (no graphics or multimedia).
Would anyone here either have specific suggestions of titles we might look
at, or suggestions on how I can go about finding out what's out there?
Thanks much for any ideas.
