But that hypothesis assumes that Amiga clone makers would be getting chips from U.S. sources… do we know that Grapevine, for example, buys from US sources (like CBM direct or a CBM dealership) or does it buy from other CBM outlets such as the far East or Canada? I've heard that A2000 prices in Canada remain low. And why would CBM change their repair process so drastically, just to "kill off" these non-existant clones? Seems a bit hypocritical for a company that touts the fact their box can run Mac software, while running an Apple clone gizmo. Still, an eight times increase in the price of the Chip Most Likely To Blow is pretty nasty, return credit or no return credit.
