I used to use an AmTrac trackball, but don't anymore. It WAS a definate improvement over the "standard" mouse, but always felt a little "dry". While the trackball control over the cursor position is easier to control, it felt like there was too much internal friction and many times the ball would stick or not move until enough inertial force was applied to make it move. The ball also stopped quicker "than on a dime" which sometimes made the cursor come up "short" of where I expected it to stop at. While the AmTrac trackball is much better than any Microsoft mouse I have ever had the displeasure to use, it always felt like I needed to "oil it" (kind of like a bicycle running on insufficiently packed bearings). It WAS GREAT, however, to not have to move my entire wrist and/or arm across my desk to go from corner to corner, and the selection buttons are nicely sensitive to the touch. – Using Whap!
