Yes… but the ball doesn't move smoothly in relation to the mouse's movement on/over the pad. Dirt and animal hairs in the rollers, grease, various pollutants such as hair spray, waxes and cleaning fluids, cigarette smoke and dust all contribute to the almost certain constant degradation of a ball-based mouse. The constant "like-new" performance an optical mouse delivers is, in my opinion, worth whatever learning curve it takes to get used to it. As I pointed out a few messages back, for me that was NO learning curve others may find the same. I'd never, ever use a ball-based mouse again if I have the option.
