st Hi, Doug – Howard shared your e-mail with us all; this IS a friendly place, especially for a forum so new. (Maybe that's part of it.) Anyway, you'll soon notice i never let a chance to proselytize for orchid growing… there's so many incredible misconceptions about them, and i just keep trying resolutely to help people see they're great, often easy, fairly inexpensive, windowsill or under lights plants. and with some 30,000+ species and probably 60,000 man-made hybrids, you can be sure there are a lot of cool growers. Some of the most richly colored flowers belong in the cool growers – preferring winter night temperatures of 45 degrees or so. (Odontoglossums and cymbidiums are two genera that spring immediately to mind.) So if you have any yen at all, please try them. If you need info re where to buy them, etc., just give a holler. i'm usually around here somewhere, glad to help. glad you're aboard. — jw
